Optional Competitions
TALENT - $25.00
ANTSO promotes a diversified well-rounded teen. Talent is an option for delegates to perform various expertises they may have in a field of talent. This may include, but is not limited to, vocal performance, dancing, cheering, music or the arts.
Competition details:
- Delegates choosing to enter the talent competition must perform a two (2) minute talent routine. Any routine above the two minute time limit must be disqualified by the director.
- There may not be time for a talent competition rehearsal, so come prepared!
- Judges will score the talent on a scale of 1 -10.
- Judging criteria: quality of performance, stage presence, artistic technique and ability.
SPEECH - $25.00
ANTSO promotes a well spoken and articulate teen. Speech is an option for delegates to speak on a topic provided by the National Office.
Competition details:
- Delegates choosing to enter the speech competition must memorize and orally recite a 200 word essay (Junior & Senior) or 100 - 200 words (Preteen) on the topic assigned by the National Office. This includes all words (a, an, the, etc.). Any speech above the 200 word limit will be disqualified by the director.
- Each contestant must turn in rehearsal, so come prepared!
- Judges will score the essay on a scale of 1 – 10.a copy of the speech for review at the State Registration.
- There may not be time for a speech competition
- Judging criteria: articulation, creativity, stage presence, and message or content.
- The topic for 2009:
- Modeling routines may not exceed 90 seconds
- Choreographer will set the stage pattern
- Attire can be casual, glitzy, or sporty
- Age appropriate and in good taste
- Judging Criteria: originality, personality, creativeness, and overall impression of the modeling routine
NOTE: These competitions has no bearing on the final outcome of the Program, and is judged by a separate panel of judges.
